Story submissions

What does the NoSleep team look for from independent writers? Obviously there's the literary monsters that have established their phenomenal stories time and time again, but if you're a newbie or aspiring horror writer, what are the key elements the NoSleep podcast crew looks for in something they know they can produce, record and put out for the masses?? Thank you!

Would you ever redo some of the stories from S1?

Season 1 had lots of stories that had multiple characters and I would be curious to know if you would ever redo one with a full cast?

Have you considered a (premium, possibly) feed where each story is also released as its own individual episode?

It would make it easier to favorite and find specific stories in various podcast apps. It would also be easier to set a sleep timer that ends when the story does without bleeding into the next story (and hooking you when you're trying to wrap up, haha.)

Voice acting auditions

How would one go about auditioning to be a part of the team? As someone with voice acting experience on a pro level (radio, ads for air) and as a fan of the show for many years, I've always wondered how the process goes.

Are all the voice actors full time?

Do all the voice actors do this professionally on a full time basis or do some of them still have ‘day jobs’?

Hey! Will we get more of the "weirder" type of bonus episodes? Like The New Decayed style stuff that's really dark or even spicy? I really liked the added uncomfortablity in those episodes.

Advice on becoming a voice actor

Hello I was just wondering if you guys have any advice for getting into the world of voice acting?

How do you get the art for each episode?

How do you get the art for each episode? Do you have select artists that listen to the story first? Or do they just read the story? Or does the author just give a vague description of the story?

Selecting stories?

How do you select stories to produce? Is it mostly a Cummings decision, do you have a meeting? Is there usually too many to pick? Or do you have to really ask around?

who are the artists who are currently doing the episode? I have noticed that some come and go. who do you have now?

How do you feel about stories with forgone conclusions?

This was almost a running theme is older seasons. Stories where the protagonist very obviously wouldn't survive the events taking place. Stories that would either end with the protagonist being (rather obviously) trapped there forever or inexplicably escaping. Do you dodge this trope going forward? Or simply avoid it entirely? It's not an issue if done well, but a painful cop-out if handled poorly.

How much of the podcast is "improv"?

How much of the podcast is improv? Is there a lot of improvising when recording an episode? For example parts where you might add your own bits to the script? (I genuinely feel like there is but I have to ask!)

Older episodes "temporarily unavailable"?

I'm a new subscriber and I'm unable to access nearly any episode prior to season 15 or so. They're not available via Supercast or via any of the podcatchers I use—listed, but "temporarily unavailable" when you try to stream or download them. The first 3 seasons aren't listed at all. Am I doing something wrong or is something going on? Thanks.

I am currently downloading episodes using iTunes, but I want to switch over to Google Podcasts. How do I do this ?
